Tips for christening a house
1. Try for an ironic phrase in alternative spelling: Ardgraft, Allaown, Kumincyde, Dunchattan
2. Combine two first names: Jondor, Steflyn, Nygeane
3. Use an antique-looking spelling: Faerie Cottage, Forestgait, Thym House, Sunnymeade
4. Reverse the letters in a word: Dneirf, Emoh Ruo
5. Respell an ordinary word: Merrylee, Hunny Pot Cottage, Beare Farm, The Knut House or just say how nice it is Cosy Cottage
6. If you don't want to bother with spelling, think of :
- a tree name The Larches
- a foreign place Meiringen
- an aspect of the house itself High Gables
- the rural environment Badgers Green
- the former function of the house The Old Rectory
- your favourite imaginary place Rivendell
- a phrase in a foreign language La Dometa, Mon Repos
- flowers Bluebell Corner
- a famous fictional place Manderley, White Ladies
- a famous battle Senlac
- birds Heron's Ghyll
- the climate Fen Breez
