Sanskrit & Tamil Spiritual Names & MeaningsMadhavaMadhava is the Lord (dhava) of Mother (Ma) in her form of Lakshmi, the Divine Mother who is the consort of Lord Vishnu. This divine name is mentioned three times in the Vishnu Sahasranama. It also means the Lord (dhava) of knowledge (ma). Further, madhu means honey. There is a special kind of knowledge mentioned in the Upanishads, the ancient Hindu scriptures. It is called Madhu-Vidya, meaning, "honey knowledge." This is the sweet, spiritual wisdom that dawns upon one who reaches the heights of spiritual attainment. The Lord is the master of this knowledge and so He is also called Madhava. We can know Him through experience of Madhu-Vidya. Sri Krishna can be understood by three spiritual sadhanas, namely 1) Manana - through thinking in the form of deep, self-reflection and self-enquiry 2) Dhyana - sustained concentration and 3) Yoga - various disciplines and practices to join the individual consciousness with the universal, divine consciousness. The name Ma-dha-va represents these three disciplines as methods of attaining the bliss and truth as represented by Lord Krishna. Na Tasya Pratima Asti Yasya Nama Mahad-Yashaha
