inner nature, one whose mind is spotless and clean of all impurities.
Such an empty and stainless mind is ready to receive divine wisdom
and the highest understanding. In the Rig Veda, the clear, sunny
and bright day is referred to as arjunam. Prince Arjuna was a disciple
of Sri Krishna. He was a great warrior and a skilled marksman with
the bow and arrow. Sri Krishna explained the teachings of the Bhagavad
Gita (the Song of God that forms part of the Mahabharata story)
to Arjuna after the prince was suffering from indecision and doubt.
After being granted understanding of the teachings, Krishna enlightened
the warrior prince on yoga, renunciation, dharma and all aspects
of the true, spiritual path. Arjuna was a partial incarnation of
the King of the Gods, Indra, and the third of the five Pandava brothers
who are the central characters of the great Indian epic, the Mahabharata.
